The Writer to His Beloved - By Bobby Sagra

I have written you
verses of love
words of endearment
images of romance
and sealed them
with the mark
of my very own heart
with its breath
my life is offered
for you, my beloved Marl.

Our love has taken
deeper, firmer roots
in the annals,
hopes and dreams
of the past five years.
We gather the memories
of joy being together
and feel as one too
in the sorrows we shared.
Losses, transitions, adventure
marked the years gone by.

At present, we work quietly,
but few months back,
we traveled great distance
from west to east, point to point
and back, we drove 7,000 miles
and our car broke down
along the hot summer highway
and we got help
from good Samaritans
sent by God for us
to continue with our journey
till we reach our new home,
get the job we desired
and start all over again.

In the recent holidays
we spent time
visiting our relatives,
friends of old
and  new friends
and gave and got gifts,
ate lots of food,
chocolates and cakes
to cheer up our hearts
and strengthen our faith
in the love that binds
in the joy we share
in the sorrows we bear.

Now, blessed to pay our bills
and supporting our folks,
we face the new year
as we face together
it's new challenges and hopes
with strength renewed,
maintaining the humor
that lightens us up,
sharing the courage
to overcome obstacles
to transcend differences
to love and accept
each other as Christ
loved and accepted
each  of his apostles
in their humanness
weaknesses, fears
and even lack of faith.

So, my beloved
I write these words
out of love for you alone
loaded with the realities
we humbly deal with
in each new awakening
and day in and day  out
of our life's destiny now
miraculously sustained
by the grace that comes
from the Giver of gifts
who fulfills the promise
of each new dawn.

Marriage after all
is something we work out
tirelessly, patiently, lovingly
together, like sharing our time,
eating on the same table,
living under one roof,
sleeping on the same bed,
riding on our car,
holding our hands,
giving our smiles,
living our faith in God.
