Our bones and muscles tired

after 5 long days of driving

From the middle of nowhere

We kept moving to that somewhere

By the New Jersey sea coast

overlooking New York city

To find love and a new family

To gain more respect and honor

Ah, the delight of meeting an old friend

and the joy of making new ones

Finally we are at home

This is truly God's promise land

A land of plenty and bounty

Our souls at rest, our hearts merry

Each new day, a day of wonder

Each new wonder, a sweet encounter!

Each time September comes

There is an air of celebration

In my life as it becomes

A new transformation

Great events of my life

happened during this time

like my first baby cry

wrapped in my mother's embrace

T'was September too

when once I got to live

a life apart and took

the way of a celibate

One September afternoon

and the rains where heavy

I got my head anointed

as a herald of the Good News!

On the same September day

while still early morning

I met in person my wife

at Iloilo airport in Cabatuan

This year is a very special one

September comes again

and what a joy to celebrate

my birthday with my wife!

My core belief in life

is that life is meant

to be lived to the fullest

and share it with the one I love

The best thing in life

is the capacity to make

that choice and the freedom

to take full responsibility

God is love

and when two people

love each other

they too build God's Kingdom!

Being a witness

of God's love

can also be

living a life of love intensely!

One can only marvel

True Love Waits

The mother bird waits for her young to grow wings,
The morning waits for the sun to break the dawn
The evening waits for the crimson red sunset to vanish
The mountain waits for the clouds to come and go
The springs wait for the outlets to gush forth
The rocks by the river wait some trekkers to rest
I wait for my Hun Marl to come and be with me.

It has been a very long saga of faith that works
in the epic of our love upon which waiting is loving
and hoping always for the best outcome of things
not giving in to despair, but only believing
that God has His own way of giving the joy
of having us together to live just one life
and be His witnesses and sharers of His good news!

It matters not how long and difficult the ordeal
of making one step at a time toward our goal
making sure every stone of direction along the way
is being followed and heeded for without failure
and every thing required is being fulfilled
and every penny paid for with every bit of fund
so the process becomes swift and prompt to complete.

Love is calling forth, is sure to arise
Go for it my love and never lose any second
The time of waiting is almost over
and the time of great rejoicing is near
in the perfect time of God above
whose signature is written in each event
and whose love is both waiting and true forever!

when we went for groceries
at Robinsons?
I waited for you
to get out of the Teller line,
I saw you paying
for the goods
and then you saw me
and forgot about them
and ran towards me.

Also, we were in Baguio
at the Victory liner
and you went to get our tickets
bound for Pasay,
and a bus came to the terminal
and they said its about to go
and so I shouted at you
to run, so together
we could get on that bus
only to find out
it was bound only for Cubao.

What about that moment
when our flight back to Manila
from Iloilo was delayed.
And it was one unusual day
and it was meant to be
so we could use the time
for each other to linger on
as in our marriage
there is always
that element of surprise
and God's endearing presence.

Think about that evening
at SM South Mall
when we both agreed
to watch the movie "Invictus"
and passed the time
inside the theater
in sheer joy and rest
in each other shoulders
as we watched and got the message
of that true to life film.

As we move on from day to day
let's not forget even a second
where love's seed is sown
there will always be sprouting
somewhere in time
in our most unguarded moments
the song of love,
whispering hope, trust
and absolute faithfulness
for each other.

Ah, before I forget
the lights that flickered
that night of our honeymoon
from a 5 star hotel
along Roxas Boulevard,
our twinkling eyes
reflected in the semi darkness
until we let loose the curtains
and focused to where echoes
of our love reverberated
and made holy our union.

A little bit of love
just a small gesture
of kindness
or a simple token
of thoughtfulness
means a lot
to heal a broken spirit
or a weary soul
in this life's twists
and turns...

At times
or most of times
we are in a hurry
and we don't want
to get disturbed
in our hurried pace
to go back
to our own isolation
when in truth
it only takes a second
to spread the lips
and smile
or it only takes
few minutes
to make coffee
for visiting strangers
with love in every gesture
it doesn't really take that long.

Much more with internet
can't we slow down
and in silence
even make a difference
in simply being present
to each other
listening and caring
the very soul and hearts
of our dear persons
in the vision and sacrament
we can only call the now!

over here online
and our love blossomed
like a lily in spring
over a murky pond
of still waters
in the dreams
and realities
of our lives…
My name is Bom
and I am in love
with Marl
so in the meeting
of our hearts
both the ending
and the beginning
of our names entwined
as one in love’s
sheer mystery!
Her name is Marl
and she is in love with me
and so, we share
just one hope, one dream
one space to be
in the daily exchange
of words we come to know
each other
and in knowing more
our love deepens and glows.
In our love
there is honesty
transparency and truth.
We try to be
all for each other
body, mind and soul

It is a love song of two doves

Flying over me and my wife

as I walked along the path of life.

The doves spread their wings

pure whiteness in splendor and beauty

assuring freedom and new hope.

The dove looks with eyes of love

their hearts waiting and longing

their feet steady in the air

their heads upward and proud.

Then we heard the echo

of the doves' love song

"here am I, my beloved said one

ready to die for you," and the other said,

me too am ready to die for you!"

Martyrdom is love's highest goal

there is a lot to it

than simply letting go

it is just being pure nothingness!

The doves' love song is also ours

if only we all can see through

and saw a soldier and his girlfriend
hugged so intimately and fondly
before he has to go back to war.

The greatest of wars
is never fought outside
but the heat of the battle

It is indeed true love
when one simply invest
on loving without
much expectation
of any reward
or recompense
or price, but just loving...

I was seatedby the side of mother
carrying a baby
inside a basket
on a plane
and we talked
about love...

The mother said
that her kind of love
for the baby
is unconditional
24 hours a day
without any price tag
but its so rewarding...

True love is simply
a gratuitous gift
of care, kindness, attention
to the one loved
not minding the time
nor the effort
and even the pains...

True love is self giving
to the maximum
and out of that heroism
of self forgetfulness
comes the true delight
of loving and being loved
and life becomes beautiful,
wonderful, awesome radiance
of love freely given and poured!

a saintly figure
a spiritual mother
of many children for unity!

With that word
came a short note
that the vision of my life
will be...

Oh, love is a breath

And here is what I say...

Love is only love

when it is given

freely, willingly, gladly

spontaneously

what is best, noble

and true to the beloved.

And in the process

of giving and receiving love

there is the blossoming

of the lives of one another.

And most surely in a special way

a growing spiritual life

is deeply felt in the apex

of mutual assurance

and strong support

of loving, caring and norturing
the fullness of personal growth.

And in the fruitfulness

of loving, caring and sharing

even the silence and absence

of what is physical

cannot surpass the depths

and heights and widths

of love's panorama beyond the horizons

of what is beautiful and lasting.

The whole world is a stage

and a great space to be

a man, a woman, a child

a person to love and be loved.

I believe that part of the problem

in any spectrum or experience

of life in the world

is the lack of the real experience of love...

I can only give what I have

If I have no love...

meaning the flesh and blood,

the marrows and bones,

the heart and soul

of a true, real, pure love in me...

I cannot love.

John Powell, SJ said once,

"The greatest tragedy

in the world is not having

the experience of being loved

and loving in return."

My new vision of life is

when there is no love

may i bring and gently offer love.

Out of the sad and bleak reality

of life's unfair situations,

here I am today...

just ready and willing

to accept life as it is
and embrace everything
with gratitude and joy

to value and respect
the things I cannot change

to realize and achieve
the things I can still change
and to fulfill my purpose,

The Many Ways of Love

Out of the bright moonlight

in a quiet night by the river

along the mountain ridges

of an old Indian spiritual place

I came to realize that love

has its many ways...

Listening is also loving

especially when one listens

with a heart to what a friend

really needs, not what one thinks

the friend might need.

Understanding is another way

when I can put myself

in the very shoes and heart

of the one I love,

I can get a glimpse of true love.

Giving of myself is also love's way

my time, my energy and my very self

a joyful gift of love

for the beloved

without any tag price.

Maybe one that is often forgotten

is just being -

the way of presence

even in silence, unspoken language

it is still love, it is still real

the in between spaces of stillness.

Or an absence,

which makes the heart

grows fonder and strong

as the wisdom of the ages

again and again reminds us

for the love to be true must endure

some form of not being there

in the appearance of matter.

Finally, I may say

Love to be love must offer

some act of martyrdom

some witness of self sacrifice

for the beloved -

its love's highest way!

"I love you and I am willing

to die for love of you

and the fullness of your life!"

Love echoes...listen to its heartbeat

since time emmorial

love is a beautiful theme

to ponder...

and write about.

As a poet

I know not which comes first

the love or the poem ...

The more I think of love

the more the poet in me awakes

and with ears open

I hear the echoes

of love stories inscribed

in the eternal records

of time and space!

The more I write about love

flows the more poetic verses

"Love makes its demands

because it has love first..."

so I heard and memorized

from a wise man.

May this poetic blog reach

every heart that loves

so we may find the joy

and freedom to love without fear

so that if there will be any fear

left crouching within

it will only be the fear

of having died without

giving oneself to love

even for a second!

Love conquers all,

yes, i believe that

but first of all

in my experience,

I need to be conquered

by love in all its intensity,

its paradoxes and contradictions.

Also, I just felt lately

that to know love

for what it is

I need to allow love

to break through me,

break my heart,

break my illusions,

break my control of life.

Then, in the soft rhythmns

of the present moment

like listening to the sound

of birds even in winter

loves speaks its language

in or out of season.

Yes, only in that nothingness,

only in that darkness

only in that brokenness

I came to understand

the victory of love

in my own moments

of falling to the ground

like seeds deeply sleeping

in the cold winter

only to sprout full of life

and beauty in spring!

Today, I am ready

to love again in the now

and I'm at peace

and secure that love will win

no matter what

whatever is

inspite of

love triumphs!

Love Heals...

A little bit of love
just a small gesture
of kindness
or a simple token
of thoughtfulness

means a lot
to heal a broken spirit
or a weary soul
in this life's twists
and turns...

At times
or most of times
we are in a hurry
and we don't want
to get disturbed

in our hurried pace
to go back
to our own isolation
when in truth
it only takes a second

to spread the lips
and smile
or it only takes
few minutes
to make coffee

for visiting strangers
with love in every gesture
it doesn't really take that long.

Much more with internet
can't we slow down
and in silence
even make a difference
in simply being present

to each other
listening and caring
the very soul and hearts
of our dear persons
in the vision and sacrament

we can only call the now!
I sing with all of my heart
love heals, love heals,
love heals the broken hearts
love heals the weary souls

love heals the world
love heals, love heals....

to the heartbeat of the other
to the hidden meaning
behind every expression...
to the unspoken word...
to the language of the heart...
Love is also giving
whatever makes the beloved happy
whatever is good for the other
whatever makes life worthwhile
whatever cheers up the heart
whatever comforts and lifts up

Love is also sharing and caring
in the beauty of each encounter
in the loveliness of each new day
in season and out of season
in the the journey of life...
being together...being one.

Love is the inspiration
and the strengthening
of each other no matter
what happens...

it is eternal
it is hope
it is faith
